“AMAZING!!! Can we have [the animateurs] all the time please?! The children absolutely loved them and so did I. What incredible musicians. They were so fun, engaging, and just brilliant with the children. Thank you for making this happen!” – Participating teacher, 2023

Following the success of their schools workshops this academic year, which reached approximately 900 children in primary, secondary, and ARP settings, The Mozartists are delighted to announce that John Lyon’s Charity has agreed to fund their outreach programme, in partnership with EMS, for a further two years.

The offer in 2023/4 will include new series of MOZART 250 Discovery Workshops, through which children will work with the animateurs to devise and create their own mini-operas, as well as a series of shorter workshops for primary school children. In secondary schools, the company will roll out its extended Singing and Stagecraft workshops, sharing insights into the industry and working with the children on drama through music. In SEN settings, children will develop their storytelling and musicality through ‘Mozart and the Magical Instruments’, inspired by The Magic Flute.

The Mozartists’ outreach team is a dedicated and experienced group of animateurs, singers, composers, period-instrumentalists, and a professional milliner, leading the children in creating hats for their performances.

Debbie Coates, CEO of The Mozartists says; “We are more than delighted to be able to continue our important work in Ealing’s schools. At a time when children are still bouncing back from the impact of Covid, and creative subjects are being cut in favour of core subjects, musical projects like these are more important than ever in enabling children to develop their creativity, and in building the musicians and audiences of the future. We are enormously grateful to our partners John Lyon’s Charity and EMS for helping us to deliver this vital work.”
