ABOUT EMS

Ealing Music Service was established in 1999 when the Government introduced Music Standards Fund (MSF) to protect and develop music services. The service has grown and developed since that time and now provides a comprehensive range of services for schools and communities in Ealing. Ealing Music Service is a fully traded organisation funded by delivery of services and grants. EMS’ primary funder is Arts Council England who appointed EMS as the lead partner of the Ealing Music Partnership responsible for delivery of the Ealing Music Hub. Arts Council Funding allows these services to be delivered at highly subsidized rate, making music education accessible to all.

Ealing Music Service provides:

  • Small Group Instrumental and singing tuition for children in Ealing schools
  • Ensembles and choirs in Ealing schools and at Cadenza, the EMS Music Centre
  • Whole Class Ensemble Tuition (Spark!) in Ealing Schools
  • Instrument hire for Ealing schools and families
  • An assisted exam entry service for practical Board exams
  • Support for the Assisted Instrument Purchase Scheme
  • Grants for music scholars
  • CPD for Teachers and other specialist support services for schools and teachers (Music Technology, etc.)

EMS also delivers a range of events through the year to schools, such as:

  • Concerts by Cadenza, the EMS music centre
  • Encore, a competition for Ealing secondary school ensembles held annual at Greenford Town Hall in March
  • The Event, a bespoke performance delivered by professional artists for primary school pupils at their school
  • World Music Festival, a programme of world music events held at primary schools each year before and after the Easter holiday
  • EMStival, a large-scale music festival in Gunnersbury Park in July
  • “Have-a-go” sessions for primary schools, where pupils have the opportunity to hold and play a variety of orchestral instruments
