Ealing Senior Sinfonia (ESS) will meet on the 7th and 8th of January and the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd of April 2023 finishing with their own concert on the afternoon of April 3rd at Grange Primary School.  This brand new, exciting orchestra is in partnership with Ealing Youth Orchestra (EYO) and will include current Cadenza members as well as EYO members.  Ealing Senior Sinfonia will be conducted by EYO conductor Leon Gee.

This new ensemble will give members the opportunity to take part in more intense day-long rehearsals, play more difficult repertoire and also experience sectional rehearsals.  It promises to be fun, sociable, hard work and very beneficial towards the pupils’ musical learning.  Unfortunately, we are unable to take any non-orchestral instruments for ESS (this includes saxophones, Eb horns, guitars, pianos, etc.).

Entry in to Ealing Senior Sinfonia is by audition only; these will be held on Saturday 19th November at Grange Primary School.  We are inviting all Grade 6+ orchestral players to sign up for an audition and we would also like any strong Grade 5 players as well.

Auditionees need to prepare two contrasting pieces, lasting in total no longer than 8 minutes, that best show their ability on their instrument.  Please note that an accompanist will not be available on the day and pupils will not be able to use a backing track; this will be a solo performance.  They will also be given a short piece of sight reading, which they may be asked to repeat under instruction.  We will not ask for any scales.

Please circulate this email to anyone who you think would benefit from being in this exciting new ensemble, as well as other schools and colleagues in and out of Ealing.  This ensemble is not just for Ealing school pupils so if you teach privately out of school or teach at schools in neighbouring boroughs, we’d love for you to spread the word as far and wide as possible!

The deadline to sign up for auditions is Friday 11th November, 5pm.
