Anik Bagga of Year 10 Ada Lovelace CofE High School has been awarded this year’s Alice Gross Song Writing Award after a competitive judging process.

Anik’s track ‘Take it Slowly’ had the Judges commenting: “The song absolutely drips of ‘London’, whilst also being fresh and original”, “Cool vibe in the track and the artist has a great flow and sense of moving from a flowing verse to a memorable hook”.

Anik explained the story behind the song: “I have written the song ‘Take it Slowly’ to tell the story of my dreams and ambitions as a young child, and my hopes to achieve them despite the odds and expectations against me. It emphasises the challenges faced by our generation and embraces the spirit of passion, hard work and patience, which I learnt from my beloved grandparents”.

Anik’s winning song ‘Take it Slowly’ [third down] may be heard here along with the other entries:
