ONLINE ENSEMBLE PROJECT

SOMEWHERE OVER THE RAINBOW

Hello Cadenza & EMS Ensemble players, it’s so great to be able to connect with you!!
I hope you’ve been keeping busy (and, most importantly, practising your instruments…) during this lockdown period.

I’m very excited to welcome you to Ealing Music Service’s first Online Ensemble Project; a virtual performance of ‘Somewhere Over the Rainbow’!! Our teachers have been working tirelessly for the past few weeks arranging music and putting together tutorials so that you guys can practise hard and be a part of this amazing Online Ensemble!!

Orchestras around the country have jumped on the bandwagon of virtual performances – I’ve seen some seriously cool videos from local amateur orchestras, professional orchestras around the world and smaller chamber group videos. to check out the video from our local Ealing Symphony Orchestra and listen to their recording of Elgar’s Pomp & Circumstance March No.4 for an idea of what we’re looking to achieve.

USING THE ENSEMBLE RESOURCES

Search for your parts by scrolling down the scores menu, or you can use the search tool and type in the name of your instrument. You can also use the audio files to listen to the music and access a metronome for your practise – you need to be up to 90bpm, so definitely make time to use these helpful practise resources!

Choose which parts to start practising according to your Grade and/or ability. As a rough guide – Parts 1 & 2 are the more advanced parts (Grade 3+), Parts 3 & 4 are a more intermediate level (Grade 1+) and Part 5 is an easier part that everyone can have a go at!

Some of you may even want to challenge yourself and practise with the aim of recording more than one part!

Be sure to re-visit your allocated YouTube tutorial each time you practise, and remember you can pause and rewind the videos at any time if you need to repeat passages or you don’t quite understand something first-time around.

Happy practising, but remember don’t submit any recordings yet! You will get an email from me in the next few weeks with very specific instructions on how to record your parts and how to send them to us.
