EMS during the COVID Closedown
Ealing Music Service is committed to providing a continuing high-quality music education for all our stakeholders – schools, families and children – during these difficult times.
The EMS offices in Southall are currently closed however EMS is working to provide a continuing service to schools, to support teachers and pupils at home with online teaching materials and activities, and, of course, to plan ahead for the new school year.
The notes below provide an overview of EMS services during the COVID Closedown period. For further information please see the relevant sections of the EMS website or submit an enquiry through the website Contact Form.
Curriculum Music and Spark!
EMS is continuing to deliver Curriculum Music and Whole Class Ensemble Teaching (Spark!) to schools using pre-recorded lessons delivered by EMS class teachers. Access to these materials has been organised through the schools, so if you do not currently have access to these materials, please contact your school for details.
Individual and Small Group Teaching
This programme has been suspended for the summer term, however, some pre-recorded teaching materials – lessons and allied materials – for pupils registered to the EMS programme are available online through the EMS website free of charge.
Parents with children taught be EMS teachers can access these materials by completing the Registration for Online Lessons Form.
For more information about the EMS Online lessons please visit the EMS Online Home Page
EMS delivers a range of ensemble programmes, including School Ensembles and choirs, area ensembles (‘Tutti’), and Cadenza, the EMS music centre. For the summer term, all of these EMS groups and musicians have been brought together to take part in an online virtual ensemble to perform ‘Somewhere Over The Rainbow’.
The hire of new instruments is suspended whilst the EMS offices are closed. Parents who wish to return instruments are requested to contact EMS using the website Contact Form for advice.
Please note that instruments are hired on a termly basis and the current hire period extends until mid-September (two weeks into the start of the new school year). Accordingly, we suggest that parents considering returning an instrument retain the instruments until September when we expect that the EMS offices will be open as normal as this will not affect the hire charge.
Thank you for your patience and support,
Ealing Music Service
