The new EMS Whole Class Ensemble Tuition Programme.
Ealing Music Service’s whole class tuition programme, Spark! provides an engaging first experience of ensemble music tuition. The programme is designed to support schools in meeting the aims of the National Curriculum for music; namely performing, listening, creating and understanding. The programme introduces and develops fundamental music skills, delivering an introduction to instrumental playing and collaborative music making, with a view to further progression on any musical instrument. School based assistants are supported to assist and lead on elements of the programme through a structured CPD programme and support from EMS’s Music Development Leaders.
Spark! is principally designed for children in Key Stage 2. Offered on a variety of instruments (some instruments are better suited for a specific age range), these 45-60 minute sessions have a focus on general musicianship through the development of rudimentary instrumental skills and singing. The programme is 3 terms long:

Spark Ignition! A first taste of music tuition suitable for Key Stage 1 involving musical games, singing and some instrumental playing. Short sessions of 30 mins offered on a small range of instruments.
