Project Outline – Associate Schools Programme

Ealing Music Service and Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment (OAE) have teamed up to offer up to 3 Ealing schools the unique opportunity to join the OAE as Associate Schools in the current academic year. The OAE have devised three new strands of work and schools can opt to take part in two of the three strands below.
The first school to apply will also get a free Guardian Newspaper workshop for one class of year 5/6 on one of the dates below. These dates fill up fast and are available on a first come first served basis. Please note Guardian Newspaper dates are only available to schools who are not already on their programme.

Strand 1
OAE TOTS (EYFS) The Apple Tree

  • Spring Term 18 – Teacher training for EY staff 9 Jan 2-3.30pm with a full resource pack linked to the National Curriculum
  • Spring Term 18 – ½ day workshop in school with 2 classes of nursery, or reception pupils with 2 OAE players
  • Spring Term 18 OAE interactive concert with soprano, strings, winds, brass and harpsichord on March 6 or 7

Strand 2
OAE SCHOOLS (KS1) The Fairy Queen

  • Autumn Term 17 – Teacher training for KS1 staff 30 Nov 2-5pm with a full resource pack linked to the National Curriculum
  • Spring Term 18 – ½ day workshop in school with 2 classes of year 1 or Year 2 classes with 2 OAE players
  • Spring Term 18 OAE interactive concert with strings, winds, brass, harpsichord and 2 singers on either March 8 or 9

Strand 3
OAE SCHOOLS (KS2) The Fairy Queen

  • Autumn Term 17 – Teacher training for KS2 staff 30 Nov 2-5pm with a full resource pack linked to the National Curriculum
  • Summer Term 18 – ½ day workshop in school with 2 classes of Year 3, 4, 5 or 6 classes with 2 OAE players
  • Summer Term 18 OAE interactive concert with strings, winds, brass, harpsichord and 2 singers on either June 6 or 8

Monday 21 May am/pm Guardian Newspaper day – Only 1 Ealing school may participate with 1 class of Year 5/6 pupils
Wednesday 6 June am/pm KS2 Fairy Queen concerts central London
Friday 8 June am/pm KS2 Fairy Queen concerts central London
Monday 2 July am/pm Guardian Newspaper Day – Only 1 Ealing school may participate with 1 class of Year 5/6 pupils

Costs

The cost per school is approximately £2500-£3000. For each participating school a small financial contribution of £500 is asked for from both the participating school and EMS. The additional costs will be met by the OAE.
