Noyes Fludde 2017

On the 5th of July at the ECC theatre in Northfields, Ealing. Ealing Music Service is producing a performance of Benjamin Britten’s Noyes Fludde – and we would love your school to be part of it for FREE.

Noye’s Fludde is a one-act opera by the British composer Benjamin Britten, intended primarily for amateur performers, particularly children. First performed on 18 June 1958 at that year’s Aldeburgh Festival, it is based on the 15th-century Chester “mystery” or “miracle” play which recounts the Old Testament story of Noah’s Ark.

The performance will include a string orchestra (professionals and students), handbell team, recorders, brass fanfare, percussion, chorus and soloists, audience participation – as well as the use of projection and set to create a truly memorable performance. Music can be supplied shortly after Easter and copied for private practice.

We are looking for:

School Choirs to be part of the chorus of ALL ages from year 3 – right up to year 12. It’s really important that we get a good mix of all ages. (whole classes can be used – but only if they are being taught the songs by a music specialist – this is not a project that non music specialists can lead on) Music can be supplied shortly after Easter – there is not ‘loads’ to learn – BUT, it has to be polished and learnt off by heart by the rehearsal on 21st of June.

String Players If you have a school string ensemble or orchestra – string player of any standard from grade 1 and above will be able to take part. There are parts for all standards. The string player will get to rehearse and perform with professional players.

If you are interested then please fill out the quick and easy application form below. We have a maximum number of performers that can be involved – so please get your application for ASAP – Applications will close on Monday 27th March.

Soloists We are also looking for soloists (named parts):

  • 3 Male trebles with strong voices aged between 11 and 18
  • 3 female sopranos with strong voices aged between 11 and 18
  • a group of ‘gossips’ (should be secondary age girls with confident voices)

Please let us know if you have people you wish to put forward for any of these parts – they will be cast by audition. AUDITIONS CAN TAKE PLACE AT YOUR SCHOOL. Please email marchantl@ealing.gov.uk
