This programme is for children who demonstrate talent, potential and a commitment to learning an instrument, but whose families find it difficult to pay for them to continue their studies once free lessons in school stop.
In order to be considered for a Scholarship a child must have experienced a ‘first-access’ programme or have received at least one year’s tuition on their nominated or related instrument, be in key stage 2 in September 2015 and attend a non-fee paying school.
Music Services work with head teachers and music teachers to identify potential Scholars. There are currently 230 children from all 32 London boroughs (including 5 from Ealing) in receipt of a Scholarship. Key Award information can be found here.
