MOZART 250 DISCOVERY PROGRAMME 2020

Free Music and Performance Project worth £6,500 – CALL FOR APPLICATIONS

Ealing Music Service is delighted to announce partner organisation, Classical Opera’s flagsip annual music education project is now open for applications from Ealing Primary schools. The programme takes place in the spring term. Led by Classical Opera’s experienced education team, we take four groups of Year 5 pupils on an interactive journey as they learn about the music of Mozart and ultimately compose and perform their own short opera. Throughout the project the children grow in confidence and develop team working and creative skills that help them succeed on and off stage. Pupils will also undertake a wider exploration of eighteenth-century society, touching on aspects of history, geography, and arts and crafts and attending a day trip to a London museum.

Watch the short video of the project below:

“As a class they are still talking about it months later, it was a highlight of their time in Year 5 – it had a lasting impact in bringing the class together, highlighting those children who are sometimes overshadowed in different curricula areas.” Music lead, Featherstone Primary School (2017)

The project is generously funded by Ealing Music Service and John Lyon’s Charity. The investment in each group of 30 pupils is approximately £6,500.
