The Grand Union Youth Orchestra has a few places left in its third annual summer school, to be held at Oundle School near Peterborough August 1st to August 4th 2016.
From their website: “The principal aim of the course is to give young musicians first-hand experience of a wide range of musical styles from around the world, under the guidance of musicians born and brought up in these traditions. They will be encouraged to form their own groups and create and perform their own pieces in response to this experience, and above all develop their improvisation skills. Whatever their main instrument, they will also sing, play percussion and be able to try out other (especially non-European) instruments.”
The deadline to apply is June 10th, and applications are welcome from young musicians of secondary school age and up (12-21). The 4-day course costs £190, including food, travel, accommodation, tuition, and performance.
